Every winter, I have the opportunity to be in Florida over my winter break from school. For the most part, it’s a time that I spend intensely practicing my golf and preparing for the upcoming season. While I love the time I spend on the golf course, the times I’ll always remember are the early mornings I walk over to the beach as the sun creeps over the horizon. Whether I stroll the beach alone or with my parents, or sit there in the peacefulness of the moment, the sense of reflection and relaxation that comes over me is unmatched.
I believe nature has a power unlike anything else in the world. I see nature as something so much greater than myself. The ocean in front of me as I watch the sunrise is just the smallest fraction of this huge body of water. There are so many species, and it’s like another world. Every part of nature is like that, expanding beyond our own little world.
As I wiggle my toes in the sand and stare out over the glistening waves at the golden ball of fire inching its way higher in the sky, so many aspects of my life cross my mind. I cherish the people in my life, and am thankful for the time with my family. Through all the reflection, a calmness resolves over me as I walk back to the real world.
No matter what is going on in the world around me, the ocean and the rest of nature will always be there. Proving that God and his world is so much bigger than me.
And I’ll always be thinking, magic sure is always hidden in the simple things.
